Why RVers stay here
Midway Campground is a National Park Service campground in Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida, on US-41 (the Tamiami Trail) between Miami and Naples. Our Everglades guide calls it the default choice for RV campers in Big Cypress because it is the only preserve campground with electric hookups and the only one open year-round. It suits RVers crossing between the coasts who want a developed public site in the swamp country and do not need shade or strong cell service.
Practically, there are 26 RV sites and 10 tent sites, with 30-amp electric at the RV sites, water available, flush toilets, trash collection, and a dump station. The listed maximum is 50 feet, and rates are $30 a night for RVs and $24 for tents. Reserve on Recreation.gov up to six months ahead. The setting is open grassland along the highway rather than the tree canopy at Monument Lake, so expect full sun. The trade-off is that convenience: year-round hookups in exchange for an exposed site and weak signal on all carriers.
