Cranes Mill Park is a Corps of Engineers campground on a peninsula on the southwestern shore of Canyon Lake in the Texas Hill Country. It is developed public lakeside camping rather than a resort: 30 RV sites and 34 tent sites, water and electricity at most of them, a dump station, hot and cold showers, two fishing piers, a boat ramp and an adjacent marina. We think it suits anglers, boaters, pass-holders chasing Corps value, and RVers who want a quieter lake camp than the Lake Travis county parks.
The practical picture is water-and-electric camping with no sewer at the site, booked on Recreation.gov at Corps rates with the pass discount applying. Rig fit is genuinely site-specific: current RV-site records publish maxima from 55 to 70 feet, but driveway grades range from slight to severe, so match both your length and your tolerance for grade before you pay. Some tent inventory is nonelectric. Check-in is 3 p.m., checkout 2 p.m., and vehicle re-entry ends when the gate locks. The trade-off is that live park alerts and lake levels can close ramps or camping areas, so check the alert first.
